No one should be a judge in their own case.

This phrase attributed to 16th Century lawyer Edward Coke has become a cornerstone principle of natural justice - that no person can judge a case in which they have an interest. The rule is very strictly applied to any appearance of a possible bias, even if there is actually none: “Justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done”. Despite this... when you first appeal any claim for funding in care for the elderly (Continuing Healthcare Funding), the organisation who refused the original application (The Clinical Commissioning Group) hears the appeal!

This design by Merlin Orr features original photographic works by the brilliant photographer Wiktoria Wojciechowska, whose original and stunning work can be found here.  This is just one of the designs available in our shop, and each sale helps us to provide services to those who cannot afford to pay to access justice.
