Legal Cafe Wednesdays

Free, friendly legal advice — over a cuppa.
You don’t need to book a solicitor to get clear answers to your legal questions.
At Legal Café Wednesdays, you can drop in, have a tea or coffee, and speak to a qualified lawyer in a relaxed, informal setting — for free.
Whether you’ve got a question about care funding, lasting power of attorney, family legal matters, or just want to know what your options are, we’re here to help.
How It Works
It’s simple. Just drop in.
No appointment. No pressure. No fee.
You’ll find us in The Yards, Market Street, Kettering, every Wednesday.
We’ll be brewing tea, serving cake, and putting the law back into the heart of the community.
What You Can Ask About
We specialise in accessible legal support — especially around:
-
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC)
-
Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
-
Adult social care and health funding
-
Mental capacity and advocacy
-
General health and welfare legal issues
If your question falls outside of our remit, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
Why We Do It
Too many people are shut out of legal advice because of cost or complexity.
We believe the law should be available to everyone — not just those who can afford it.
At The Lawyer & The Nurse, we’ve created a space where people can talk through their problems, learn their rights, and feel heard. Sometimes all it takes is a good cup of tea and someone who knows the system.
The Setting
Enjoy a proper brew (Fortnum & Mason tea, no less), freshly brewed coffee, and homemade cake — all pay what you can.
We’re not here to sell you anything. We’re here to help.
Whether you're popping in for a quick question or want to sit down and talk something through, you'll find a welcoming, inclusive space where legal advice feels approachable and human.
